Three frozen lakes. Two national parks. One spectacular Canadian Rockies adventure.

185 Canadian dollars

Service Description

This full-day winter experience takes you through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Canadian Rockies, travelling from Alberta into British Columbia through Banff and Yoho National Parks. Starting at 9:00 a.m. and finishing around 4:00 p.m., the day combines three iconic frozen lakes, incredible mountain drives, and plenty of time to get out and experience each stop. We begin at Lake Louise, where winter completely transforms the landscape. Walk along the frozen lakeshore beneath towering snow-covered peaks, rent a pair of skates at Louise for a spin on the lake if conditions allow, and explore the famous ice castle. Feeling adventurous? Warm up with a cocktail from the seasonal Ice Bar before we continue deeper into the mountains. From Lake Louise, we head north along the Icefields Parkway, regularly considered one of Canada's most scenic drives. Surrounded by glaciers, frozen rivers and enormous mountain peaks, the drive is as much a part of the experience as the destination. Our second stop is Peyto Lake. Sitting high above the Bow Valley, we'll take a short winter hike to the viewpoint overlooking the frozen lake, the glacier that feeds it and the sweeping valley beyond. In winter, the landscape is quiet, dramatic and almost completely covered in snow, a very different experience from seeing Peyto during the busy summer months. For our final lake, we cross into British Columbia and Yoho National Park to visit beautiful Emerald Lake. Take a stroll along the frozen lakeshore, explore the area around the historic Emerald Lake Lodge, or head inside and warm up with a classic maple Old Fashioned. It's a pretty great way to finish a day spent exploring frozen lakes in the Rockies. And if all of that sounds a little chilly, don't worry, complimentary hot chocolate and coffee are included throughout the day. You can even turn your coffee into a mocha for a little extra Canadian winter fuel. Throughout the experience, you'll be accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide who knows these mountains, the wildlife, the history and the hidden stories behind the places you're visiting. Three frozen lakes. Two national parks. Two provinces. One of Canada's most spectacular mountain highways. Not a bad way to spend a winter day in the Rockies.
